Who is SJ Speak?

I was born in Bolton, England a few decades ago to the best parents I know, Jim and Dorothy Speak. God bless you two in your unwavering sacrifices on my behalf and putting up with my wild romps through-out Lancashire countryside getting into all sorts of mischief. I played sports, fished and shot at anything I could get away with.  Me Mum used to say that I was the 'Pied Piper"  as all my friends looked to me as their leader. Poor misguided lads!

I went to Rivington and Blackrod High School were I eventually became Headboy in the final year of the sixth form. at Age 18, I left Englad to play professional cricket for the Queensland, Australian "Yandina". I returned to England in 1991 where I attended University in Cardiff to study sports and human movement. I graduated and moved to Long Beach, California.  I shall have to share a few tales from my adventures there in another book.

In 2008, I moved to a little place called, Mountain Home, Idaho. I needed to be close to where my son lived, so rural Idaho seemed perfect.  I worked in the school system and coached soccer.  I used to entertain my son, Nefyn James with stories of my travels. He loved them so much he convinced me that I should write a book.

Catch is my first collection of short stories. Ten fishing tales from different places such as Australia and the Snake River Valley.
